Archie Dawson; of 415 McKee
Ave.; Monessen; died Wednesday;May 27;1964; at 6:03 a.m. after an illness
of six weeks.
Mr. Dawson was born in Edinburgh;
Scotland; on Oct. 1;1873.
He came to the United States in
1884 at the age of 11.
He was a roll turner and roll
designer by trade working for
U.S. Steel Corporation at Braddock
and Homestead until 1904
when be came to Monessen. He
accepted a position with what was then the Page Woven
Wire Fence Co. He worked with
the Monessen Page Division
of American Chain and Cable
Co. until retirement in 1946.
His wife; Nora Emma Dawson;
died in January; 1948.
Surviving are the following
children: Clara Dawson at
home; a retired teacher of the
Monessen school system; Alvin of
Newton; Mass;; Edwin of
Monessen; works manager of
Pittsburgh Steel Co.; Harold of
St. Petersburg; Fla.; and Mrs.
Donald (Dorothy) Skeckel of
Monessen; with whom he had
made his home and eight grandchildren.
Friends are being received at the
H. Denver Rhome Funeral Home in Monessen after 7 p.m.Wednesday. Visiting hours will then be from 2:30 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will take place Friday;May 29;1964;in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.in charge of the Rev.William Burrows;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church;Monessen. Interment;Belle Vernon Cemetery. H.Denver Rhome;funeral director.
