Obituary

Archie Dawson, of 415 McKee
Ave., Monessen, died Wednesday,May 27,1964, at 6:03 a.m. after an illness
of six weeks.
Mr. Dawson was born in Edinburgh,
Scotland, on Oct. 1,1873.
He came to the United States in
1884 at the age of 11.
He was a roll turner and roll
designer by trade working for
U.S. Steel Corporation at Braddock
and Homestead until 1904
when be came to Monessen. He
accepted a position with what was then the Page Woven
Wire Fence Co. He worked with
the Monessen Page Division
of American Chain and Cable
Co. until retirement in 1946.
His wife, Nora Emma Dawson,
died in January, 1948.
Surviving are the following
children: Clara Dawson at
home, a retired teacher of the
Monessen school system, Alvin of
Newton, Mass,, Edwin of
Monessen, works manager of
Pittsburgh Steel Co., Harold of
St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs.
Donald (Dorothy) Skeckel of
Monessen, with whom he had
made his home and eight grandchildren.
Friends are being received at the
H. Denver Rhome Funeral Home in Monessen after 7 p.m.Wednesday. Visiting hours will then be from 2:30 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will take place Friday,May 29,1964,in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.in charge of the Rev.William Burrows,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church,Monessen. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. H.Denver Rhome,funeral director.
