Obituary

Antonio Edward Tony Cervantes, 63, of Monessen, was called by the Lord and the Angels in Heaven on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 1, 1944, in Monessen, a son of the late Jesus and Mary Cervantes. He was a lifelong citizen of Monessen. Mr. Cervantes, who worked in the construction field, retired from Corning Glass in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Schroyer Cervantes, formerly of Fayette City, two sons, Joseph Cervantes and wife, Donna, of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Jack Cervantes and wife, Denise, of Monessen, two daughters, Lisa Latkanich and husband, Michael, of Rostraver Township, and Angela Cervantes, of Jacksonville, three sisters, Patricia Neil, Margarita Russell and husband, Jeff, and Mary Cervantes, grandchildren, Jessica, Joe and Monasita Cervantes, Nicole and Toni Lynn Cervantes, and Michael and Marcus Latkanich, two step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Dillion Lankford, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, all of whom have been part of this thoughts and prayers. Friends will be received at the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen (724-684-3700), on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Christine Ingold officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Tony will be deeply missed by family and friends.
