Obituary

Antonia Jones Lawson, 56, of Monessen, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 17, 1951, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of Mattie Ora Jones, who survives, and the late Anthony A. Jones Sr. Anton , as she was affectionately called, graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School and Duff's Business Institute. She pursued her cosmetology education at the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and became a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years. She was the owner and operator of Hair Styles by Antonia in the Mon Valley through 2007. Antonia was an active and faithful member of Christian Life Ministries (CLM) in Donora while under the leadership of Elder Robert C. Holmes. She held several offices within the church and was one of the original members of the CLM Praise and Worship Team. She organized, with other church members, a feeding ministry, a free luncheon held at Christian Life Ministries every Thursday from noon to 3 p.m. for anyone who wanted to participate in fellowship. On Aug. 4, 2007 she graduated from Shiloh Bible Institute in Washington, Pa., and received her diploma in ministerial studies. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Henry C. Lawson Jr., whom she married on May 27, 1995, four children, Eddy Bell, Tonia Lawson and Zackary Lawson, all of Monessen, and a step-son, Shawn Lawson, of Connellsville, three sisters, Angalene Jones-Mitchell, of Monessen, Dr. Anita Jones, of Miami, Fla., and Andrea Jones, of San Antonio, Texas, three brothers, Anthony A. (Renee) Jones Jr., of Monessen, Angelo (Brigetti) Jones, of Germany, and Anzalone Zeke Jones, of Belle Vernon, her father-in-law, Henry C. Lawson Sr., of Rostraver Township (Pricedale), her mother-in-law, Regina Lawson Malone, and sister-in-law, Gina Marie (Jessie) Lawson-Jones, both of Rochester, N.Y., two aunts, Louise McCullum, of Bentleyville, with whom she resided for many years, and Annette Davis, of Charleroi, one uncle, Richard Cranford, of Yuma, Ariz., a close niece, Alyssa Madison, and many other nieces and nephews, grandchildren, Cyra Pace, Nicholas Bell, Aliesha Bell, Aaron Special Bell,Edzarae Bell,Chance Bonam and Savien Bonam,three godchildren,Jarrod Madison,Andre Ward and Marquita Abbott,all of Monessen,and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her father,she was preceded in death by one brother,Michael Jones. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.in Mount Calvary Baptist Church,230 Reed Ave.,Monessen,where services will be held Friday,Sept.28,at 11 a.m.with Elder Robert C.Holmes officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BEVERLY C.DRAPER FUNERAL HOME,608 Sixth St.,Monessen (724-684-6242).
