Obituary

Anthony V. DiGioia, 71, of Monessen, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Monessen, a son of the late Santo and Virginia (Nicolosi) DiGioia. He was a 1947 graduate of Monessen High School and was a graduate of Robert Morris College. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and was formerly a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 773, and was the former director of Valley First Community Federal Credit Union. He retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, where he was employed as payroll supervisor. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Lambert) DiGioia, a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and John Bachinski of Monessen, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Susan DiGioia of New Market, Md., a brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Josephine DiGioia of Port Orange, Fla., a sister, Jose Marie Iacovangelo of Carroll Township, six grandchildren, Stacey Cathers, Allyssa Grove, Kelsey Bachinski, Alexander DiGioia, Adam DiGioia and Evan DiGioia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Santo DiGioia, in 1959. Friends will be received in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Monessen Elks Lodge 773 will conduct services in the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m.
