Anthony P. Semancik Sr.; 81; of South Orange; N.J.; formerly of Fayette City; died Wednesday; Feb. 18; 2009; in Runnells Specialized Hospital; Berkley Heights; N.J. Born Feb. 17; 1928; in Washington Township; he was the son of the late Michael P. and Elizabeth (Gurbal) Semancik. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon; having previously been a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City before its closing. Mr. Semancik was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant; where he was employed for 49 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Fayette City American Legion Post No. 484. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Anthony P. Jr. and Charlene Semancik; of South Orange; two brothers; Steve and Joseph Semancik; of Belle Vernon; and one daughter and son-in-law; Julia and Oscar Kluh; of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife; Ann M. (Sobek) Semancik; on Dec. 2; 2002; five brothers; Albert; Andrew; Michael; Frank Sr. and John Semancik; and one sister; Mary Miller. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Monday; Feb. 23; at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home; followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Sunday; members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Anthony P. Semancik Sr. at 3 p.m.; and Fayette City American Legion Post No. 484 will conduct services at 7 p.m.; both in the funeral home.
