Known for his gregarious nature and love of life; Anthony H. Pasqua; of Pittsburgh; died peacefully on Monday; Sept. 24; 2007; at Consulate Retirement Village in North Strabane Township at the age of 83. He was born April 17; 1924; in Monessen; a son of the late Joseph Pasqua and Theresa Mandarino Pasqua and stepson of the late Mary Santelli Pasqua. Anthony graduated from Monessen High School in 1942 and joined the U.S. Army; serving as a medic during World War II until 1943. He returned home and took a job as a sales clerk at the J.C. Penney department store in Monessen; where he met his loving wife of nearly 50 years; Elizabeth Sholtis Pasqua; who died Dec. 8; 1995; at the age of 72. Anthony worked as a metallurgist for Pages Steel and Wire mill in Monessen; as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Monessen and as a manager for Prudential Life Insurance Co.; working primarily in the Pittsburgh area. Following retirement; he enjoyed spending his days volunteering in the community and bringing his good cheer to patients as a volunteer for Allegheny General Hospital and to home-bound seniors in the Pittsburgh area through the Meals on Wheels program. Anthony served as an official greeter at Consulate Retirement Village; bringing warmth to newcomers. Those who knew Anthony will always remember his smile and sense of humor. He never tired of dancing or making a play on words; bringing smiles to those around him. He is survived by his daughter; Judith Totty; of McMurray; his son; Anthony Pasqua; of Oakland; Calif.; granddaughter; Leigh Ann Totty; two sisters; Josephine Pasqua Fayak; of Belle Vernon; and Rose Mary Pasqua Lopiccolo; of Parma; Ohio; and his goddaughter; Carla Fayak; of McMurray. In addition to his wife; he was preceded in death by his son; Joseph Samuel Pasqua; on Oct. 10; 1995. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC.; 427 West Main St.; Monongahela (724-258-6136); where funeral services will be held Friday; Sept. 28; at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce J. Pedersen of Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery with full military honors accorded at the grave by the Monongahela Firing Squad and Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
