Anne Roman; of Monessen; died peacefully on Sunday; Aug. 27; 2006; in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. She was born in Monessen; the daughter of the late John and Susan Golomb Figler. Mrs. Roman was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. She was a member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Monessen and its Ladies Altar Guild. Mrs. Roman had most recently worked for the Area Agency on Aging as a receptionist and previously as a bookkeeper and partner for 30 years with her husband at the former Monessen Sports Shop. She started her career as a clerk in the payroll department of the former Pages Steel. But her most important job; and the one that gave her the most pleasure; was being a loving mother and grandmother to her three daughters and six grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; Peter Bud Roman; with whom she had a wonderful and loving relationship for 63 years; three daughters and sons-in-law; LaVonne and James McFarland; of Houston; Texas; Sandra and Ronald Caporossi; of Willoughby Hills; Ohio; and Deborah and David Martin; of Centreville; Va.; six grandchildren who were the light of her life; Mary and Amy McFarland; Katie Caporossi; and Lindsay; Danielle and Brett Martin; two sisters-in-law; Gilda Figler; of Monessen; and Margaret Roman; of Dover; Del.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by two brothers; John and Albert Figler. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Wednesday; Aug. 30; beginning with a noon Prayer Service in the funeral home; followed by a 12:30 p.m. Funeral Service in St. John the Divine Orthodox Church with Rev. Rumen Stoychev and Rev. Igor Soroka officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum. Parastas services will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Divine Orthodox Church.
