Obituary

Anna Panzo Shimchick, 98, of East Millsboro, formerly of North Belle Vernon, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at 11:20 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born May 14, 1906, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Wilma Mikulannetz Panzo. Mrs. Shimchick was a homemaker, member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Monessen and its Ladies Guild and the Rosary Society. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael B. and Loretta Shimchick of Issaquah, Wash., two grandsons, Michael Shimchick and wife Mary and Paul Shimchick and wife Laura, three great-grandchildren, Miles, Marcus and Tori Shimchick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Shimchick, on Oct. 6, 2000, six brothers, John, James, Emil Sr., Michael, Stephen and Gregory Panzo, three sisters, Marie Kosh, Betty Gasper and Alice Fordanish. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A prayer service will be held Monday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's B.C. Church with the Rev. Msgr. Andrew D. Parvensky as celebrant. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The parish rosary will be prayed Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., followed by a service for the dead at 2:30.
