Anna G. McGavitt, 92, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. A daughter of the late Clarence and Ada Smith Fike, she was born in Selbysport, Md., on Feb. 5, 1922. She was a member of the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church and had resided in Belle Vernon for most of her adult life. Anna loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed shopping, cooking and canning. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Ann Parks of Belle Vernon, Linda and William Dudeck of Charleroi and Donna and Steve Tiernan of Belle Vernon; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William P. McGavitt Jr., at home, and James M. and Cathy McGavitt of Fayette City; one sister, Norma Marlett of Altoona; one brother, Milton Fisher of Melville, N.J.; 12 grandchildren, Rosanna Radacy (Robert), Frank Sellaro (Mindy), Melissa Huber (Randy), Christopher Dudeck (Annette), Jeffery Dudeck (Lori), Kimberly Sines (Ken), Jonathan Dudeck (Lisa), James McGavitt Jr., William Edward McGavitt, Stephen J., Andrew W. and Makayla Tiernan; and 10 great-grandchildren, Tre Opfer, Devin, William and Haylee Huber, Kirsten and Linda Dudeck, Billy White, Hunter McGavitt, Bailee Tiernan and Aaron Rutherford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. McGavitt Sr. on June 7, 1994; four sisters, Elva Fisher, Elnora Merrigold, Donna VanBreman and Thelma Fisher; and five brothers, Edgar, Bruce, Roy, Leonard and Luther Fisher. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Wednesday at noon with the Rev. Eugene Spear and Pastor Chuck House co-officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
