Angelo (Sonny) Giannini;74;of Knowle Lane;Rostraver Township;died Tuesday;April 8;1997;in Mon Valley Hospital;Inc. He was born in Gallatin;Jan.14;1923; a son of the late Candida and Annibale Giannini. Mr.Giannini was a Valley resident all of his life. He owned and operated;along with his sons;the Giannini Distributing Company of Monessen. He was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon. During World War II;he served with the U.S.Marines in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of the Thomas McKee Post 28;American Legion for 52 years;where he served as post commander from 1954 to 1955 and 1958 to 1964. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1190;a 10-year member of the Mon Valley Leathernecks Associaion;a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 954 and Elks Lodge 773;all of Monessen. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 2399 and belonged to various other civic and fraternal organizations. Surviving are his wife;Genevieve Dzimiera Giannini;three sons and a daughter-in-law;Mark and Rita Giannini;Randy Giannini and Paul Giannini;all of Belle Vernon;four sisters;Cecelia Giannini;Lillian DeMarino and Gerry Elyanich;all of Monessen;and Leona Kuhn of Belle Vernon;and one grandson;Chad Giannini. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a sister;Rose Sabol;and two brothers;Roland ‘Berry Giannini and Baldo Bud: Giannini. Friends will be received in the Robert A.Billick Funeral home Inc.Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue;Monessen;Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing servce will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m.in the funeral home;followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon;with the Rev.John Cindric;V.F.;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Robert A.Billick Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
