Born in Italy Feb.12;1916;she was a daughter of the late Michael Canestrale and Libra Lombardo Canestrale;who survives and resides in Monessen. Mrs.Mathieu was a member of St.Cajetan Roman Catholic Church of Monessen and its Legion of Mary. She was a resident of Monessen fro the past 65 years.In addition to her father;she was preceded in death by her husband;Maurice H.Mathieu Sr.on March 11;1982 and a brother;Matthew Canestrale in 1931. Surviving;in addition to her mother;are three sons;Maurice E.Mathieu Jr.of Bentleyville;Donald Mathieu of Charleroi and Rene Mathieu Sr.of Monessen;six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;two brothers;Joseph Canestrale of Monessen and Matthew Canestrale of Belle Vernon;four sisters;Mrs.Walter (Vinnie) Bell of Monessen;Mrs.William (Theresa) Peters of Harrisburg;Mrs.Mary Bednar of Monessen and Mrs.Norbert (Ann) Single of Monessen. Friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home;441 Reed Ave.;Monessen;where a blessing service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St.Cajetan Roman Catholic Church;Monessen;with Rev.P.Lino Ramellini officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
