Andy J.Sabolek;77;of Arnold City;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;May 9;2001;in Mon Valley Hospital. Born June 13;1923;in Fayette City;he was the son of the late Frank and Ann Kroskie Sabolek. He was a veteran of World War II;having served in the U.S.Navy with the Pacific Fleet. He was a retired coal miner of 40 years and a member of the UNWA. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;Fayette City;Mon Valley Shipmates;American Legion;Fairhope Rod and Gun Club;Cal Swim Club and Perry Sons of Italy. He was a former Scoutmaster. He was preceded in death by a son;Andrew F.Sabolek;a brother;Matthew Sabolek;a sister;Millie Onfur;and a great-granddaughter;Natalie Sabolek. Survivors include his wife;Catherine Kessler Sabolek;four children;Thomas Sabolek and wife;Joy Lynn;of Fayette City R.D.;Daniel Sabolek and wife;Teresa;of Arnold City;Gerard Sabolek of Mesa;Ariz.;and Laurie Anne Sabolek of Charleroi;12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.;334 Main St.;Fayette City;and Saturday;until 9:30 a.m.;when a Blessing service will be held in the funeral home;followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit R.C.Church;Fayette City;with the Rev.Leonard McAlpin as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
