Obituary

Andy J.Sabolek,77,of Arnold City,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,May 9,2001,in Mon Valley Hospital. Born June 13,1923,in Fayette City,he was the son of the late Frank and Ann Kroskie Sabolek. He was a veteran of World War II,having served in the U.S.Navy with the Pacific Fleet. He was a retired coal miner of 40 years and a member of the UNWA. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,Mon Valley Shipmates,American Legion,Fairhope Rod and Gun Club,Cal Swim Club and Perry Sons of Italy. He was a former Scoutmaster. He was preceded in death by a son,Andrew F.Sabolek,a brother,Matthew Sabolek,a sister,Millie Onfur,and a great-granddaughter,Natalie Sabolek. Survivors include his wife,Catherine Kessler Sabolek,four children,Thomas Sabolek and wife,Joy Lynn,of Fayette City R.D.,Daniel Sabolek and wife,Teresa,of Arnold City,Gerard Sabolek of Mesa,Ariz.,and Laurie Anne Sabolek of Charleroi,12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.,334 Main St.,Fayette City,and Saturday,until 9:30 a.m.,when a Blessing service will be held in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit R.C.Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Leonard McAlpin as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
