Obituary

Andrew Vargo,Sr.,81,of Cook St.Extension,Fayette City R.D.1 died Friday,April 5,1985,at 11:25 p.m. in Brownsville General Hospital. Mr.Vargo was born in Edna No.1,Westmoreland County,on May 29,1903,a son of the late Andrew and Julia Gesko Vargo. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 5. He was also a member of the American Slovanic Citizens Club of Fayette City. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Anna Vargo,in 1972. Survivors include seven sons,Edward of Wellsburg,W.Va.,Thomas of Fayette City R.D.1,Andrew Jr.of Fayette City,George of Belle Vernon,Joseph of Fayette City R.D.1,Herbert of Fayette City,and Leonard of Fayette City,four daughters,Mrs.Guy( Mary) Karelli of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Edward (Agnes)Strychaisky of Belle Vernon,and Mrs.Stephen (Dolores) Yelich of West Newton,and Mrs.Douglas (Dorothy) Weitzel of Belle Vernon,29 grandchildren,eight great-grandchildren,two brothers,John and Samuel,both of Belle Vernon,and four sisters,Mary Vargo of Fayette City,Mildred Sever of West Newton,Sue Cassidy of Rochester,and Anne Cupps of Pittsburgh. Friends will be recieved at the Howard W.Mccrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m.and Monday until 11 a.m. when services will be held at the funeral home with the Rev.Donald H.Swanson,pastor of Lynnwood Lutheran Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
