Andrew Sloan; 91; of LaPuente; Calif.; died Sunday; Feb. 29; 2004; in Foothill Presbyterian Hospital; Glendora; Calif. He was born Dec. 12; 1912; in Seneca; S.C.; a son of the late Charles and Rosa Dendy Sloan. He was a retired employee of the former Donora Works of United States Steel Corp. Mr. Sloan had been a resident of Donora for 47 years before moving to California in 1997 because of failing health. He was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Donora for over 50 years; where he had served as a trustee for many years. In addition to his parents; Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his wife; Cornealur C. Bruce Sloan; one daughter; Dorothy Belle; two sons; Harold and Frank Sloan; 13 brothers and two sisters; and two grandchildren; Anthony Thomas and Juanita Bullard. He was the last surviving child of 16 children. He is survived by two daughters; Edith H. Thomas of Lancaster; Calif.; and Barbara J. Haynes of LaPuente; Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives; and friends. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. in St. Paul Baptist Church; Donora; where funeral services will be held Monday; March 8 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the PERCY E. LAW JR. FUNERAL HOMES; 1324 Meldon Ave.; Donora.
