Andrew Sholtis;61;of 918 Chestnut St.;Monessen;died yesterday at 5:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Dec.8;1918 in Arnold City;he was a Monessen resident most of his life. Mr.Sholtis was an employee of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Monessen plant;retiring 10 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had never married. He was a member of St.John’s Lutheran Church;Charleroi. He was preceded in death by his father;Andrew;54 years ago;and a brother;Paul;53 years ago. Survivors include his mother;Mary Surovchak Sholtis;with whom he resided;a sister;Mrs.Tony (Betty) Pasqua of Pittsburgh;and two brothers;Joseph Sholtis of Monongahela and John Sholtis of Tucson;Ariz. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home;Inc.;1209 Grand Blvd;Monessen;on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home;followed by additional services at 10 a.m. at St.John’s Lutheran Church;Charleroi with Rev. Stephan Hurnyak;pastor;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Rhome Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
