Obituary

Andrew Sholtis,61,of 918 Chestnut St.,Monessen,died yesterday at 5:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Dec.8,1918 in Arnold City,he was a Monessen resident most of his life. Mr.Sholtis was an employee of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen plant,retiring 10 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had never married. He was a member of St.John's Lutheran Church,Charleroi. He was preceded in death by his father,Andrew,54 years ago,and a brother,Paul,53 years ago. Survivors include his mother,Mary Surovchak Sholtis,with whom he resided,a sister,Mrs.Tony (Betty) Pasqua of Pittsburgh,and two brothers,Joseph Sholtis of Monongahela and John Sholtis of Tucson,Ariz. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd,Monessen,on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home,followed by additional services at 10 a.m. at St.John's Lutheran Church,Charleroi with Rev. Stephan Hurnyak,pastor,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Rhome Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
