Obituary

Andrew J. Pap Kurey, 92, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in the Victoria House, Monessen. He was born April 18, 1920, in Monessen, a son of the late John F. and Mary Fertal Kurey. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the former St. Cajetan Church of Monessen. He was a member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club. Andrew was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a foreman for American Chain and Cable, Pages Division, for 42 years prior to his retirement. Surviving are two sons, Richard and wife, Cheryl Kurey of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Ronald Kurey and wife, Maria Tetteris of Belle Vernon. A special niece, Patricia Pettko, two granddaughters, Amy and Dr. Steve Spaulding and Alyssa and Phil Truax, four great-grandchildren, Isabella, William, Alexander and Mariana, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Laura Santori Kurey and Lois Davis Kurey, brothers, John, Michael, Joseph and George Kurey, two sisters, Anna Pettko and Margaret Feehan. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., Family Owned and Operated as a Member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. Services will be held in the chapel of the Rhome Funeral Home Inc. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Memorial. Contributions, in Mr. Kurey's name, may be made to the Monessen Public Library or to the Salvation Army through the funeral home.
