Andrew G.Laird;85;of 735 Speer St.;Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;June 24;1975;at 4:15 a.m.in the Waddington Convalescent Home;Fayette City. He was born in Coal Center on Sept.10;1889. Mr.Laird was a retired conductor;having worked for the Monessen-Southwestern Railroad at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Surviving are his widow;Edith Stemberg Laird;one son;Col.Paul G.Laird (Ret.U.S.Army) of Tebran;Iran;three daughters;Mrs.James (Bernadean) Vance;Mrs.Maynard (Vivian) Jesick and Mrs.Shelby D.(Ruth) Ferguson;all of Belle Vernon;five sisters;Mrs.Pearl Smith;Mrs.Thelma Guyer and Mary Friday;all of Lewistown;Mrs.Marie Reed of State College and Mrs.Mildred Tussey of Huntingdon;eight grandchildren;and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday. Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m.in the funeral home;with Dr.S.Arthur Talman;pastor of First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon;in charge. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
