Obituary

Andrew Sendek,Sr.,of 735 Green street, Belle Vernon,died suddenly Wednesday morning,Sept. 28,1955 at 1:05 o'clock at his late home. Born in Monessen,Mr. Sendek moved to Belle Vernon eight year ago.  He had been employed as a mill policeman at the local Pittsburgh Steel Co. plant for the past 14 years,and was president of the Watchman's Union No. 29954 of Pittsburgh Steel Co.  He was a member of St. Sebastian's R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,and a member of the Holy Name Society of the church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Barbara Plevel Sendek;two children,Andrew, Jr. and Leonard,both at home;his father, John Sendak of Monessen;four brothers, Stephen of Glassport,Edward of Canonsburg,Albert and Thomas,both of Monessen and a sister, Mrs. Dominick (Mary) Galilci of Monessen. Friends are being received at the Check Home for Funerals,100 Schoonmaker avenue,where visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Brief funeral services will be held Saturday,Oct. 1,at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home,with additional services to follow at 11 o'clock from St. Sebastian's R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. Rev. Francis L. Martin will officiatie. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Joseph R. Check,funeral director.
