Obituary

A Belle Vernon man,who was injuried in a head-on crash early Saturday morning,died Sunday, May 8,1966 at 4:30 a.m. in McKeesport Hospital. The victim, Andrew Carl Sendek,21,of 735 Green St.,suffered a skull fracture in the accident which occurred on Route 201 near the Rostraver Nursery,about five miles north of Belle Vernon,at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Sendek was employed for the last three years by Atlas Merchandising Co. of Charleroi.  He had been accepted into the U.S. Marines Corps and was to report for training on May 19.  A member of St. Sebastian's R.C.Church of Belle Vernon,he was graduated in 1962 from Bellmar High School,where he had played on the varsity football team.  He was active in the Midget Football League,serving as assistant coach for the Redskins,a team in Washington Twp.  Born in North Charleroi on Dec. 20,1944,he was the son of Mrs. Barbara (Plevel) Sendek and Andrew E. Sedek,who died in 1955. Surviving besides his mother are one brother, Leonard J.,at home and his maternal grandfather, Michael Plevel of North Charleroi. Friends are being received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,where a Blessing service will take place Wednesday,May 11 at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Requiem High Mass at St. Sebastian's R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,at 10 a.m.  The Rev. Martin O'Toole,pastor,will officiate.  Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director.
