Obituary

Andrew Balaska,84,of 518 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,May 2,1973 at 10 a.m. Mr.Balaska was born in Austria-Hungary on March 4,1889,and was a World War I veteran. He lived in Belle Vernon since 1905 and was a retired mine worker. He was a member of American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon,and Slovak Evangelical Union of Monessen. Surviving are two brothers,John Balaska,with whom he resided,and Michael Balaska,also of Belle Vernon,and one sister in Czechoslovakia. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m.Thursday. Visiting hours Friday are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A devotional service will be held Friday at 9 p.m.at the funeral home. Services are scheduled Saturday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Stephen Hurnyak,pastor of St.John's Lutheran Church,Charleroi,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
