Andrew Balaska;84;of 518 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;May 2;1973 at 10 a.m. Mr.Balaska was born in Austria-Hungary on March 4;1889;and was a World War I veteran. He lived in Belle Vernon since 1905 and was a retired mine worker. He was a member of American Legion Post 659;Belle Vernon;and Slovak Evangelical Union of Monessen. Surviving are two brothers;John Balaska;with whom he resided;and Michael Balaska;also of Belle Vernon;and one sister in Czechoslovakia. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;after 7 p.m.Thursday. Visiting hours Friday are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A devotional service will be held Friday at 9 p.m.at the funeral home. Services are scheduled Saturday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Stephen Hurnyak;pastor of St.John’s Lutheran Church;Charleroi;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
