Obituary

For the second time in as many years death will keep William Paul, local football star of the Waynesburg College team from participating in the annual Geneva-Waynesburg game on Saturday. Last year on the eve of the Geneva game, the diminutive center was called home by the death of his father, the late Morgan Paul. Yesterday he had just finished his final practice session with the Yellow Jackets in preparation for the Geneva game on Saturday when he received word of the sudden death of his mother, Mrs. Amanda Paul, at her home here.  Death was due to a sudden heart attack.  The Geneva jinx over the Waynesburg team and the local players,it was recalled, extended to the basketball floor as on the day before the Geneva-Waynesburg basketball game last season,James Currie, father of Robert 'Rabbi" Currie, died.  "Rabbi" is also a member of the football team and will play Saturday afternoon.  Mrs. Paul died at 3:25 on Friday afternoon,November 2,1934.  Surviving are six sons,John,Alvin,Morgan,William,Curtis and Benjamin and four daughters,Frances,Pearl,Lillian and Vivian.  Eight grandchildren also survive.  Mrs.Paul was 57 years of age. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home on Meadow avenue, with Rev. M.S.Speers officiating.  Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
