Alva Myrtle McCreary, the seventeen years old daughter of W. S. McCreary, of Schoonmaker avenue, died Monday night,August 23,1909 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Rath, at Alliance, Ohio,after an illness of about three months as a result of tuberculosis of the spine and other complications. About three weeks ago when conditions became alarming the young lady was removed to the home of her sister with the hope that the change would improve her condition, but the disease had gained such a hold that it became apparent she could not recover. Miss McCreary was 17 years of age and was well and favorably known in Monessen and will be missed by a large circle of friends as well as in the home. She was a member of the M. E. Sunday school and was a faithful attendant and dilligent worker and was popular with the members of her class. The remains will be brought to Monessen Wednesday evening and will be taken to the home on Schoonmaker avenue. Besides her father the deceased is survived by two sisters and four brothers. They are Mrs.Bertha Rath,of Alliance,Ohio,and Mrs.Frank Voortish,of Monessen, Thomas, William, Leroy and Lawrence. Funeral services were conducted ath the Methodist Episcopal Church at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev.G.E.Brenneman preaching the sermon. Interment was made in Belle Vrnon Cemetery, the body being carried by hearse and the friends going on a special streetcar.
