Alonzo H.(Buddy)Clegg;50;of 110 Main St.;Belle Vernon;died suddenly Wednesday;June 24;1970;at 12:30 a.m. Charleroi police said Clegg had been permitted to sleep in the borough jail Tuesday night. His body was discovered shortly after midnight. Washington County Deputy Coroner Harold Schrock of Charleroi performed an autopsy and attributed death to a cerebral hemorrhage. Born in West Newton;Mr.Clegg had lived in Belle Vernon most of his life. Mr.Clegg was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a former employee of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Surviving are his father;Hobart D.Clegg Sr.of Belle Vernon;two brothers;Hobart D.Clegg Jr.of Mechanicsburg;Pa.;and Carl Clegg of Belle Vernon;a sister;Mrs.Robert (Mildred) Kostella of Perryopolis R.D.2. Friends are being received at Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon. Service there Friday;June 26;at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.Charles Colas;pastor of Belle Vernon’s First Baptist Church;officiating. Interment;Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director.
