Allen L.Griffey;formerly of Monessen;died Monday at 4:30 p.m. in Birt Nursing Home;Uniontown. He was 87. Mr.Griffey was born June 16;1894;in Webster;a son of the late Ephraim and Nancy Griffith Griffey. A resident of Monessen most of her life;Mr.Griffey was retired from the former Page Division of American Chain & Cable Co.;Monessen. He was a member of the Elks;American Legion and World War I Mon Valley Barracks 350;all of Monessen. Survivors include a son;Louis Elwood (Cappy) Griffey of Monessen and numerous nieces;nephews and other relatives. Friends will be received in the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;645 McMahon Ave.;Monessen;from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.Wilbur J.Hubbard officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Elks services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 8 p.m. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
