Obituary

Allen G. Crosby,66,of 1034 Highland Ave.,Monessen,died Tuesday, June 9,1964 at 12:45 p.m. at his late home following a short illness. Mr. Crosby had worked as a janitor in the main office of the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.,unitl retirement in 1961. He was  a World War I veteran, a member of the Joseph H. Ford Post 691,American Legion,Monessen, the Mon Valley Branch of World War I Veterans 350,Charleroi,the Wayman A.M.E. Church and the Choral Literary Club,both of Monessen.  Mr. Crosby,who was born in Lincolnton,N.C. on Dec. 26,1897,came to Monessen in 1915. He is sruvived by his widow,Helen;two daughters, Mrs. William (Louise) Barton of New York City and Mrs. Homer (Jean) Gillis of Long Island,N.Y.; one son,Allen B. of Brooklyn,N.Y.;two brothers, William of Monessen and Madison of New York City;three sisters,Mrs. William (Mae) Macklin of Long Island,N.Y.,Mrs. Herbert (Leola) Junior and Mrs. Preston (Carolyn) Stanford,both of New York City and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,Monessen after 7 p.m. June 10.  Service at the Draper funeral chapel on Friday,June 12,at 11 a.m.,in charge of the Rev. R.A. Latimer,pastor of Wayman A.M.E.Church in Monessen.  Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
