Obituary

Alice E. Ghenne of Fallowfield Twp.,Monongahela R.D.2,a member of a pioneer Fallowfield Twp. family,died Thursday,April 16,1981,at 3:40 p.m. in the Washington Hospital Exended Care Facility,Washington,Pa.  She was 79. Miss Ghenne was born March 9,1902,in North Charleroi,a daughter of the late Albert J. Ghenne and Mathilde Porignaux Ghenne.The family had resided on Ghenne's Farm on Coyle-Curtain Road.  They later sold the farm,and the area,today, is known as Ghenne's Heights. She owned and operated the former Ghenne's Restaurant on the site of what is now the Mint Lounge. Miss Ghenne was a retired cook with the Haney Barge Company in Dunlevy.  She was a member of the First Christian Church,Charleroi,and the Charleroi Historical Society. Survivors include an aunt,Flora Matz,of Monongahela,and several cousins. Friends will be received at the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.,the hour of service at the funeral home,with the Rev. Jack Brownlee,pastor,First Christian Church,Charleroi,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,is in charge of arrangements.
