Obituary

Alfreda Schoenholtz,89, of Millvale, formerly of Canon City, CO was called by our Lord and passed peacefully on Sunday, September,4, 2016. She was the daughter of the late John and Ida Borgen. Sister of Lawrence Borgen and Jean Nerkowski, and the late brothers August, Henry, Edward and Alfred. She was the dear wife of the late Roy E. Schoenholtz. Mother of Roy H.(Carole), St.Peters, MO, Loren J. (Barbara), Reeds Springs, MO, Teemon (Ty) J. (Debbie), Pueblo West, CO and Suzan J. (Richard) Holt, Millvale. Grandmother of Roy, Brian, David, John, Sarra, Allason, Julian and the late Jason. Great Grandmother of Colton, Hazel and Cole. Alfreda (Nita) took full advantage of life by sharing her love, kindness and talents. She was a mother who made raising her four children on a 20 acre farm in Ginger Hill a devoted joyful priority. Her sons, Roy and Loren served honorably in the U.S.Navy. Alfreda was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, Cosmetologist, lead caregiver at Louise Child Care and along with her husband returned to college to receive a B.A. Degree Her sons worked in Saudi Arabia and she was able to travel with the family extensively in Europe. After Roy's death she relocated to Colorado to manage her son's business (Mountain View Campground) for six years. She was passionate about children and began working at St. Scholastica as a house parent and also was involved with the HOSTS program at the elementary schools. She was a mother to many and received numerous awards for her dedication to the children. Alfreda's crocheting and baking talents won her many ribbons at the Colorado Fair. Due to health concerns, she returned to Pittsburgh in the Fall of 2012 and was fortunate to find a new home at Alverno Apts. where she made new friendships with many special people. A weekly trip to the casino, plus bingo and domino nights competed her leisure time. Her nightly ritual included listening to Willie Nelson, Engelbert Humperdink and Roger Whittaker. Alfreda's beautiful smile and compassionate personality will be missed by all. Special thank you to the doctors and staff at Renaissance Family Practice, Jefferson Home Health and the excellent caregivers at Bright Star. Visitation on Wednesday September 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Healy-Hahn Funeral Home, 512 Grant Ave, Millvale, 412-821-2940 Services and burial in Belle Vernon will be private.
