Obituary

Alfred G.Dolfi,an active merchant in the North Belle Vernon community for many years,died suddenly at Mon Valley Hospital on Sunday,April 21,1985,at 12:30 a.m. Mr.Dolfi of 421 Fayette St.,Belle Vernon,was 72. He was born in Belle Vernon Nov.24,1912,a son of the late Angelo and Amelia Levi Dolfi. Mr.Dolfi was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the Donora Elks. He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area. The Dolfis have operated a family-run business for many years. Mr.Dolfi and his brother-in-law,Dan Makovics,took over the family business started by Angelo Dolfi on Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon in 1945. The new store featured fresh fruits and vegetables,meat and general food items and continued a policy of customer service which carried into the present. With Mr.Makovics,Mr.Dolfi remained active in running the business until his death. In addition to his parents,Mr.Dolfi was preceded in death by a brother,Ernest,in 1957. Surviving are his wife,Rita Makovics Dolfi,son,David M.Dolfi of Camp Hill,two daughters,Cathleen Moreau of Warren,Ohio,and Mrs.Thomas (Susan) Jozefczyk of Belle Vernon,a brother,Emil Dolfi of Monongahela,two sisters,Mrs.Theresa Ferrari of Glen Bernie,Md and Mrs.Dan (Evelyn) Makovics of Belle Vernon and four grandchildren. Friends will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shelby Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. from St.Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon. CDA Court 1522,Belle Vernon,will say the Rosary at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
