Alfred Davis Sr.; 85; of Strabane Woods; formerly of Brownsville and California; Pa.; died Friday; Oct. 6; 2006; at 3:15 a.m. in the Washington County Health Center; Washington. Born Dec. 27; 1920 in Brownsville; he was the son of the late Roman and Ginnie Youre Davis. He enjoyed playing the accordion and gave lessons to many students. Mr. Davis was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon. He was a retired Longrod mill worker from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany; in the European Theater of Operations as an antiaircraft artillery automatic weapons crewman. In 1947 he married his wife of 59 years; Helen Coban Davis; who survives and resides in Washington. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Alfred Jr. and Beverly Davis; of Washington; and Dr. Dennis and Evelyn Davis; of McMurray; three grandchildren; Natalie Lenkiewicz and husband Lenny; Mark Davis and wife Jennifer; and Kyra Williams and husband Ryan; two great-grandchildren; Ashley and Brittany Lenkiewicz; three sisters; Norma Quarzo; of Brownsville; Marie Mancini; of Uniontown; and Lenora Augustus; of Allentown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers; John Gallice and Anthony Davis; and two sisters; Josephine Migliore and Rose Acklin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). Relatives and friends will gather Monday; Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church; Mary Street; Belle Vernon; for funeral services with the Very Rev. John J. Kluchko; pastor; officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parastas Services will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
