Obituary

Driving his wife and child to Saltsburg for a Christmas visit,Alphonse Simon,25,of Monesse Highway,was almot instantly killed when a bus  struck his machine on the William Penn Highway at Delmont Thursday night, December 24,1936 at 9:30 o'clock. His wife and child were treated for injuries by a Delmont physician.  According to police reports,Mr. Simon had just started his car across an intersection when a bus,drived by Arthur E. Sixsmith,of Baltimore,passed through a red light and crashed into the auto.  Although Sixsmith applied his brakes in approaching the traffic signal the icy condition of the highway prevented him from halting the heavy bus,it was reported. Mr. Simon was rushed to the Greensburg Hospital but was dead on arrival.  His skull was fractured. The body was brought to Monessen and prepared for burial.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Simon home with interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  In addition to his wife and child,Norma Jean,the deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Joseph Simon,three sisters, and one brother.  He was an employee of the Page Steel and Wire mill having worked there for four years.
