Alexandra Monita Smerecznik,82,of 833 Graham St.,Belle Vernon,died Monday, March 7,1977,at 11 p.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. Mrs. Smereczniak was born March 27,1894 in Austria,a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Homa Monita. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Smereczniak in 1946 and by a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Merella. She was a life-long resident of the Belle Vernon area and a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Belle Vernon and the St. Barbara Guild. Survivors include one son,Metro Martin Smereczniak of Fayette City;two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Ann) Nogy of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Salvatore (Martha) Tiano,with whom she made her home in Belle Vernon;one brother, John Monita of Belle Vernon;four sisters, Mrs. Ann Chaychuk,Mrs. Eva Semcaivk,Mrs. Nellie Novak and Mrs. Olga Balanyk,all of Canada;five grandchildren and eight great-grandchidlren. Friends will be received in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Tuesday,March 8,from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday,March 9,from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church at Mary St.,Belle Vernon one half hour before the service on Thursday,March 10. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the church at 1 p.m. Thrusday with the Rev. John J. Kluchko,pastor, as celebrant. Parastas Services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday,March 9,at 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Leonard J. Parzynski,funeral director in charge.
