Alden R. Guseman, “Big Al,” 90, of Belle Vernon, was called home to his Lord on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025. A son of the late George and Evelyn Federer Guseman, he was born in Grindstone on March 17, 1935. Al was a member of First Christian Church in Fayette City, Tri-County F.&A.M. Lodge 252, where he was a 32nd-degree Mason, Fayette City American Legion Post 484, V.F.W. Post 699, life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, life member of the Loyal Order of Moose 209, and various other social clubs. He attended Duff’s Business School of Pittsburgh for business accounting. Al had been employed as a manager at Valley 1st Community Federal Credit Union in Monessen, retiring in 2000 after 42 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as staff sergeant during the Korean War from March 17, 1954 to March 17, 1957. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and traveling and liked to sing and was well known for singing “Danny Boy.” He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jody (Alf) Moebius of Rostraver; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Faye (Jon) Cox, Rosalie Adams and Donna Senko, all of Belle Vernon; a brother and sistersin- law, George (Karen) Guseman of Monongahela and Marilyn Guseman of Newell; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Drotos Guseman on Aug. 15, 2019; a son, Robert R. Guseman in 1997; two brothers, Robert Guseman and Glenn Guseman; and three sisters, Joan Miller, Jackie Clawson and Georgia Longwill. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Minister Dave Watson and the Rev. Wayne Boring co-officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Tri-County F.&A.M. Lodge 252 will meet in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to hold services.
