Obituary

Dr.A.N.Marston,aged 75 years,the oldest medical practionier of Belle Vernon died at his home Tuesday morning,April 4,1916,at 11 o'clock after a four days' illness from grip and heart trouble. He came to Belle Vernon from New Hampshire over 40 years ago. In the earlier years of his activity,he was a professor in a Massachsetts college giving up the profession to take up the practice of medicine. He was an active church worker,being a member of the Board of Deacons of the Baptist Church and for 20 years was superintendent of the Sunday schools. He was a member of the school board for two terms and was one of the most prominent men of the upper Monongahela valley.  He took suddenly ill last Wednesday,but was reported on a fair road to recovery,and a son who had been visiting him returned to his home in Pittsburgh yesterday morning,only to be called back by the death of his father a few hours later. He had been located in the Belle Vernon area for about 33 years.Dr. Matson is survived by his widow and three sons,Dr. A.J. Marston of North Belle Vernon,Arthur Russell Marston of Pittsburgh and Joel Marston of Donora. Two daughters,Edna Grace and Kittie died some time ago. Dr. Matson was twice married,his first wife being a daughter of Joel Baker of near Belle Vernon,and his second wife was Mrs. Mary Husted of New Jersey. The funeral services will be held Friday from his late home.
