Alan N. Chalfant; 62; of Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; April 27; 2011; in UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born in North Charleroi on March 22; 1949; he was the son of the late Alfred F. and Isabel (Stephens) Chalfant. Alan was an avid gardener and antique collector and coached his three daughter’s softball teams. He enjoyed being with his family and was Pap-Pap to all. He is survived by his wife; Mary (Watkins) Chalfant; three daughters; Cathy (Dean) Michener; of Belle Vernon; Mandy Chalfant and her fiance; Chris Gage; of New York; and Lory Chalfant; of Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren; David; Kathryn; Mercedes and Zachary Zuzak; Race Michener and Hunter Alan and Gracie Rain Chalfant; brother; Alfred Ronnie (Frances Hartman) Chalfant; of Belle Vernon; sister; Tammy (Rick) Angelo and their children; Stevie; Tamara and Tanya; of Isabella; Pa.; two brothers-in-law; Robert (Cindy) Watkins; of Roscoe; and Danny Watkins; of Elco; and his dog; Taffy.
