Obituary

Agnes D. Petro, 80, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in McKeesport on June 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Dzuro. Agnes was a secretary for the Belle Vernon Area School District, where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Township, where she was active in the Christian Mother's, helped with the bulletin and was a money counter. Agnes was a long- time volunteer at the Rostraver Township Public Library and also volunteered at the Rostraver Elementary School. During World War II she volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Patty Petro, of Fort Mill, S.C., her daughter and son-in-law, Denise P. and Jeff Lewellyn, of Crosscreek Township, her grandson, Dylan Petro, two brothers, Joseph Zuro, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and George Dzuro, of Glassport, and one sister, Mary Dzuro, of McKeesport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Petro, on Aug. 20, 1996, with whom she was married for 48 years, and a sister, Ellen Dzuro. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday until 9:30 a.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934), www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township, with the Rev. Ronald L. Simboli, her pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rostraver Township Public Library or the Church of St. Anne.
