Adela Alvarez;89;of Monessen;died Friday;Jan.2;1998;in her residence;following a short illness. She was born Aug.19;1908;in Aneijeira;Spain;a daughter of the late Benigno and Maria Perez-Martinez. A resident of Monessen since moving from Spain in 1932;she was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church;Monessen. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law;Joseph and Mary Alvarez of Carroll Township;Herman and Lena Alvarez of Monessen;and Antonio and Joyce Alavarez of Belle Vernon;three daughters;Mrs.Harvey (Marie) Mull of Library;Adela E.Alvarez;at home;Gloria Vasunda of Monongahela;one brother and two sisters in Spain;13 grandchildren;and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Jose Alvarez in 1954;and by one great-granddaughter;Sarah Mull. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc.;441 Reed Ave.;Monessen. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home;followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church;Monessen.
