Obituary

Andrew Girhing,86,22 Bedsworth St.,Pricedale,died Tuesday,May 11,1976 at 5:30 a.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. Mr.Girhing was born in Rakacunend,Hungary on Oct.22,1889. He was a retired coal miner,having retired from the Somers Mine in Pricedale in 1952. He was a member of St.Sebastian Catholic Church of Belle Vernon,the United Mine Workers of America,Hungarian B.L.S.Society of Pricedale and the William Penn Fraternal Association in Pittsburgh. Mr.Girhing is survived by his widow,Elizabeth Ferencz Girhing,two sons,Bernard Girhing of Belle Vernon R.D.4 and Julius Girhing,at home,four daughters,Mrs.Albert (Emma) Beneccio of Monessen,Elizabeth Girhing at home,Mrs.Lawrence (Margaret) Gocella of New Castle,Del.,and Mrs.Richard (Julia) Matway of Craven Hill,Charleroi,six grandchildren,and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home in Belle Vernon from 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday,May 12,and from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday,May 13. A parish Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.Thursday,May 13,and a blessing service will be held Friday,May 14,at 9:15 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m.in St.Sebastian Catholic Church of Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director in charge.
