Joseph Gido;74;of 25 East Luce Ave.;Monessen;was pronounced dead on arrival at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital;Saturday;March 28;at 2:15 a.m. He had been ill for the past two months. He was born in Hazelton;and was a life-long resident of Monessen. He retired eight years ago from the gate shop;Monessen plant;Pittsburgh Steel Co. He was a member of St.Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church;Monessen. An Army veteran of World War One;he was a life member of Thomas McKee Post 28;American Legion;Monessen. He is survived by his widow;Louise Pearce Gido;one daughter;Mrs.Ralph (Virginia) Stone;Belle Vernon;three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.;one sister;Mrs.Barbara Cunningham of Mercer;two brothers;Theodore Gido of Mercer and Michael Young of Richmond;Va. Friends will be received at the Rhome Funeral Home;Monessen;after 7 p.m. Sunday. Services there Tuesday;March 31;at 10 a.m.will be followed by additional services in St.Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church;Monessen;in charge of the Very Rev.Andrew Parvensky.
