Obituary

Mrs. Bertha Watkins Gess of Belle Vernon R D. 2, died Wewdnesday,March 8,1967 at 11:15 p.m in Haven Crest Nursing and Convalescent Home, Monongahela R. D. Mrs. Gess was born in Salineville, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Squire James A. and Elizabeth Sharp Watkins who were pioneer residents of Monessen.  Mrs. Gess was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church at Belle Vernon R D and Order of Eastern Star, Monessen Chapter 205. She had lived in Rostraver Twp. since 1927, moving there fiom Monessen where she had lived many years. Preceding her in death were her husband, Lawrence C., who died in 1948, and a daughter, Mrs Louise Willson, 1958. Surviving are a son, Walter E. of Phillipsburg, N J ; one daughter, C. Elizabeth Gess, a teacher in Belle Vernon Area High School, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Lawrence and Richard Willson of West Newton, James Gess and Mrs. Ian Ferguson in New Jersey; and two great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home, Belle Vernon, after 7 p.m. March 9.  Service there Saturday,March 11,at 1:30 p.m.  Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director.
