Obituary

Samuel Ellison (Al) Githens,60,of Fisher Heights,Monongahela R.D.,formerly of Belle Vernon,died Sunday Jan.3,1965,at 5:30 a.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr.Githens was employed as a shipping foreman in the seamless tube division of the Allenport Plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. He was a member of Gumbert Lodge 252,Free and Accepted Masons,Fayette City,Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and Consisory,32nd degree,of Pittsburgh. He was a past president and life member of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his widow,Rosalyn Nagy Githens,a daughter,Mrs.Donald (Barbara) Klochak,Perth Amboy,N.J.,a son,Samuel E.Jr.of Downey,Calif.,four grandchildren,his mother,Mrs.Elma Githens,Belle Vernon,three sisters,Mrs.Harold (Edna) Lambert,Belle Vernon,Mrs.A.J.(Elizabeth) McSteen,Greensburg,Mrs.James (Grace) Chalfant,Fairless Hills,four brothers,William S.,Lloyd K.,Robert T.and Albert W.,all of Belle Vernon. Friends re being received at the Harold R.Toner Funeral Home,Belle Vernon from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Service there Wednesday,Jan.6 at 2 p.m.in charge of Dr.S.Arthur Talman,pastor of the First Presbyterain Church,Belle Vernon. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
