Maurice H.Gerard;66;of Woodward Heights;Charleroi R.D. 1 died Friday night;Nov.22;1963 at 9:30 o’clock in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. A retired millworker;Mr.Gerard was taken to the hospital Friday morning with second and third degree burns he received in an accident in his home. He was burned about the face;chest;arms and legs his physician said.
According to Fire Chief Joseph Huscroft; Mr. Gerard was
siphoning gasoline from the tank
of his car in a closed garage
when the fumes apparently
came into contact with a furnace or hot water heater in the
basement and caused a mild
explosion.
Mr. Gerard was born Oct. 3;
1897; in France and lived for
many years in the Charleroi area. Survivors include his wife;Ida Brassart Gerard; and three daughters; Mrs. Cleo (Helen)
Yeager and Mrs. Earl (Margaret) Brutout; both of Carroll
Twp.; and Mrs. Roger (Eileen)
Nesti of Fairfield; Calif. Four
grandchildren also survive.

Charleroi; Saturday;Nov.23 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.and Sunday;Nov.24;from noon to 4 p.m.and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday;Nov.25;at 1 p.m.from the funeral home;with the Rev.W.S.VanArdale Jr.officiating.
