Born in Clarion County in 1879;he came to Monessen in 1902;operating a blacksmith shop here for a number of years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Knox;Pa. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Hulda Smock Gates;three sons;Earl;Belle Vernon;Roy;Bentleyville and Curtis Jr.at home;four grandchildren;a sister;Mrs.Thina Cook of Okmulgee;Okla. Friends are being received at the H.Denver Rhome Funeral Home;McKee Ave.;Monessen;from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday;Nov.8 at 1:30 p.m.;with the Rev.T.D.Stewart;pastor of the First Methodist Church;Monessen officiating.
