Robert G.Fowler;61;of Third and River St.;Elco;a former police chief of the borough;died Friday;March 24;1972 at 2:15 p.m. at his home after a lingering illness. He was born in Fayette City Nov.26;1910;a son of the late James and Amanda Husher Fowler. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Allenport Works. A veteran of World War II;he was a member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801 and was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police;Mon Valley Lodge 87. He also belonged to United Steelworkers Local 1187 and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Roscoe. Surviving are his widow;Thais Gollick Fowler;two sons;Robert G.Jr.of California and Robert Lee of Tacoma;Wash.;one daughter;Wendy Joe at home;four brothers;James of Cleveland;Ohio;Thomas of Philadelphia;Alex of Canton;Ohio;and Carl of Auburn;Calif.;two sisters;Mrs.Sarah Geer of Charleroi and Mrs.Bessie Means of Fayette City;and five grandchildren. Friends will be received fter 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ruth Eckert Funeral Home;Roscoe;where a service will be held Monday;March 27;at 1 p.m. with the Rev.Lloyd Tennies of the United Methodist Church of Roscoe officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ruth and Emil Eckert;funeral directors.
