A 25-year-old Belle Vernon man was killed at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 7,1965, when his car skidded out of control on the rain-slicked Elizabeth Bridge. Dead on arrival at McKeesport Hospital was William R. Dillard of 69 Marion Villa. He was traveling North on Route 51 when his car suddenly went out of control on the wet pavement at the south end of the bridge. He is survived by his father,John Dillard,with whom he resided, a sister, Mrs. Laverne Ross of Youngstown, Ohio;a brother, John (Jack) Dillard of Belle Vernon and his maternal grandparents,Mr. and Mrs. Robert Donnell of Belle Vernon. Born in Belle Vernon,Nov. 18, 1939, he was graduated from Belle Vernon HIgh School in 1957. He servd four years with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Speers St. A.M.E. Church, North Belle Vernon. He was employed at the Fisher Body Plant, Irwin. Friends will be received at the Beverly Draper Funeral Home,Monessen,after 7 p.m. July 8. Funeral services will be held Saturday,July 10,at 11 a.m. from Speers St. A.M.E. Church, Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly Draper, funeral director.
