Obituary

Clarence Callaway Jr.,45,of 520 Monongahela Ave.,North Charleroi,died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday,April 21,1971 at Shadyside Hospital,Pittsburgh,following surgery. Born July 10,1926,in Monessen,he was the son of Clarence Callaway Sr.,who preceded him in death in February,1961,and Sarah Ann Wheatly Callaway,who died in December,1966. He had been employed as a burner at the Gibsonton Yards of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Callaway was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Monessen and the Lock 4 Fire Dept.of North Charleroi. A veteran of World War II,he served with the U.S.Army in the European theatre of Operations. Surviving are his wife,Charlotte Yvonne Miller Callaway,a daughter,Mrs.Jerry (Joyce) Miller of New Paris,Pa.,a foster-daughter,Cindy Mae Ewing,at home,two sons,Clifford and Terry Wayne,also at home,two grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers,William and Joseph,and a sister,Mrs.Clarence (Marian) Kerr,all of Belle Vernon. Services were held at the Grace Methodist Church,Monessen at 11 a.m. Saturday,April 24,1971. Officiating was the Rev.Joseph C.Rial. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Rhome funeral directors.
