George Edward Curry,62,of 321 Hill St.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,April 22,1969,in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr. Curry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,B.P.O. Elks,Charleroi,and Fraternal Order of Eagles,Monessen Aerie. He was the state horseshoe pitching champion 11 years,belonged to Greater Pittsburgh Traveling League and Mon Valley Rubber Band Duckpin League. He bowled five 300 games. Born in Wingate Collieries,England,Feb.19,1907,he had lived in Belle Vernon since 1949,coming to Belle Vernon from Monessen. Mr. Curry had been steward at the Monessen Eagles for 11 years. Surviving are his widow,Dorothy Derby Curry;two sons,George E. Curry II of Carbondale,Ill.,and H. Bruce Curry at home;his mother,Mrs. Matthew Curry of Brownstown;two brothers, William of Fort Lauderdale,Fla.,and Robert of North Hollywood ,Calif.;a sister,Mrs. Donald Aldous of Brownstown;and one grandson,Edward Scott. Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m.,April 23. Service there Friday,April 25,at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Snyder,pastor of the First United Methoist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson is funeral director.
