Roy Carpenter of 463 Clarendo Ave.,Monessen,died Monday, Nov. 20,1961 at 9:30 a.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bolege,Ala.,Dec. 30,1899,he had lived in this area for 40 years. He was a coal miner. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Ida) James,with whom he made his home,Mrs. Ira (Viola) Rawlings of Eldora and Mrs. Stephen (Arivildo) Barkley of Eldora;four sons, Daniel,at home,Robert of Donora,William of Monessen and Cleo,with the U.S.Army stationed at Fort Knox,Ky.;two sisters, Mrs. Lila Green and Mary Ann Carpenter,both of Detroit,Mich.;two brothers, Vert of Detroit and Charles of Birmingham,Ala.and 23 grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Beverly Draper Funeral Home,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 24,at 11 a.m. Dr.H.L. Anderson will officiate.
