Simon Brown;84;of 48 Sampson St.;Belle Vernon;died Saturday May 1;1976;at 5:25 p.m.in the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Feb.10;1892 in Georgia. Mr.Brown was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp’s Monessen Plant;a World War I veteran and a member of American Legion Post 691;Monessen;and Speers St. A.M.E.Church. Surviving are his wife;Ruth;one son;George Brown of Cleveland;one daughter;Josephine Brown of New York City;10 step-sons;Daniel and Clarence Howard of Nashville;Tenn.;George Kenney of Charleroi;Dennis;Ronald;Rodney;Gerald and Gregory Kenney;all at home;and Kenneth Kenney of Chicago;and three step-daughters;Emma Dee Hines of Detroit;Diane Kenney at home and Katherine Carter of Nashville. Friends will be received at the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;645 McMahon Ave.;Monessen;Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be removed to the Speers St.A.M.E.Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. and lie in state until services Wednesday May 5;1976 at 1 p.m.;the Rev.S.W.Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. William R.Taylor is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
