Grant E. Brown,71,of Brownsville,a retired pharmacist and a resident of Brownsville since 1913,died in Brownsville Hospital at 8:25 a.m.Friday,January 24,1975 after a lingering illness. He was a partner in the Brown & Johnson Pharmacy of Brownsville. Mr. Brown was a graduate of South Brownsville High School,Washington & Jefferson College,and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He was a member of the South Brownsville Methodist Church,the Boards of Directors of Brownsville Hospital,Brownsville Free Public Library,and Brownsville Area historical Society,president of the Brownsville Parking Authority,and a member of Masonic Lodge 60,F&AM,Brownsville. Preceding him in death were his wife, Mrs. Evelyn S. Sprouse Brown;one son,Paul Dale;a brother,William Brown;and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Brown. Surviving are three children,Grant E. Brown Jr.of Detroit,Mich.,Ned S. Brown of Columbus,Ohio and Mrs. Edwin (Carol) Townsend of New Jersey;a sister,Mrs. Lois Craven of Brownsville,and three grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Crawford Funeral Home of Brownsville from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday,2 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until 1 p.m. Monday,the hour of service. Rev. John Weaver will officiate and burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
