Ross O. Boston;63;of 615 Graham St.;Belle Vernon;long active in civic and educational affairs in his community;died suddenly Monday;Oct.25;1971;at 12:25 p.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr.Boston had been associated with the Belle Vernon School District for 38 years until his retirement two years ago as music supervisor for the district. He was a former member of North Belle Vernon Borough Council and had served as borough auditor for many years. He was a member and secretary of the Belle Vernon Rotary Club and a member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Dept. Born in Monessen on May 15; 1908;he was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Ross Boston and the
late George Boston.He received
a baccalaureate degree from
Carnegie Institute of Technology
and a master’s degree from
the University of Pittsburgh. His professional memberships
included the Pennsylvania State Education Association; Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the National Education Association. Surviving are his widow;Mrs.Margaret (Peg) Hamadock Boston;one son;Paul A.of Laurel;Md.;one daughter;Mrs.Bruce (Donice) Beitel of Greensburg;his mother;Mrs.Elizabeth Boston of Belle Vernon;one sister;Mrs.Hilda McVicker of Belle Vernon and two grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home after 7 p.m.Tuesday and on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m.Thursday with Dr.S.Arthur Talman;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;officiating.
